Inside and out, it’s pure kitsch at Damon’s, where bartenders prepare potent mai tais with a proprietary recipe. Owner Gale Barefoot worked his way up from his days as a dishwasher at age 19 to overseeing the entire restaurant operation within a few short years. His wife Joyce answered phones, worked the floor on busy nights, and greeted customers for 44 years — until her death in 2013.
